Page under construction, to eventually include prototypical information, coach formations
and other information regarding the trains
forming this service. For now, the following images
and text have been imported from the update pages.

Meanwhile on the work bench is this Hornby Gresley Buffet picked up at a bargain price at a
swapmeet recently. The bodyside conversion looks fairly straightforward, making it more
suitable for its blue & grey livery.

There's work required on the roof no doubt, and a bit of careful painting to do. The existing
glazing has been welded and filled as required into the bodyside.
The Hornby Gresley buffet car featured last month has now entered service after its modifications.
Built at York in 1937, these vehicles lasted well into the mid 1970s.
As well as the reconfiguration of the bodyside, other work incorporated changes to the roof
ventilators, moving the emergency communication gear to the correct end of the coach, and the
fitting of curtains to the seating bay windows.
Kadee number 5 buckeye couplings are used between the coaches, mounted on
the end of the body to happily negotiate 30" radius curves. Black folded paper is glued to one
coach whilst the adjacent coach has a blank buffing plate, and this arrangement closes the gap
between the carriages and provides a reasonable representation of a working gangway.
